This past Saturday, the Administrative Board of CUMC met for a time of fellowship, learning, planning and worshiping together. Looking at the pictures above, you might think we have lost our marbles! The board was divided into teams and challenged to move a marble from one end of the church Fellowship Hall to the other only using some small pieces of wood. Working together, all teams made it happen. New members had a chance to get acquainted and learn some of our procedures. The focus of the Administrative Board for 2015 will be to oversee the mission of the church and to encourage and support the goals that each of the ministry teams and committees will be setting for 2015. We will focus on our mission “to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world” and on setting goals for folks to grow in their own personal discipleship through our “Discipleship Pathway”:  CONNECT+WORSHIP+GROW+SERVE+ SHARE.

All board members will be reading “Shaped By God’s Heart” and all teams and committees will be presenting  their 2015 goals at the next Board meeting. Board members gathered in the sanctuary for a time of worship as they served Holy Communion to one another. Ray Tromley reminded the board of the history of Community United Methodist Church as he talked about our past – followed by Chair Tony Burkhart challenging the board to think about our future. Where is God calling this church to go and what is he calling this church to do? The church mortgage is paid off. Now what? Who are “the tall trees” in our midst that will lead this congregation into the next 20 years? The next administrative board meeting is scheduled Monday, March 23 at 7pm.
