Community United Methodist Church has many exciting activities available for both middle and high school youth!
Youth group meeting opportunities
Middle School Sunday School meets in Room 22 Upstairs - Led by Lori Graham, Frank Hays, and Scott Goodman - Middle School Students are shown how to deal with life's problems the way that God wants them too!
High School Sunday School meets in Room 21 Upstairs - Led by Youth Director Jason Collins, high school students share their everyday experiences and are challenged to continue to grow in their Christian faith.
Confirmation Class - During confirmation class, confirmands learn about the meaning of Christian faith, the history and teachings of The United Methodist Church, an explanation of the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion, and the membership vows they will profess. Confirmation starts in September and is intended for those wanting to join the United Methodist Church and have reached the 7th grade.
Wednesday Night Meetings - Join the Youth Ministry team for boys and girls classes in the Pavilion at CUMC. Join us on Wednesdays for dinner at 5:30 and class in the Pavilion at 6:30.
sunday evening Youth Group
A new combined Youth Group will be starting soon at CUMC. The group will be called, "Light" It Up - "Living in God's Holy Truth" is difficult in this day and age for youth (and adults). But in Matthew's gospel, Jesus tells us that we need to "let our light shine before men (Matthew 5:16)." How do we do that in this world? Join Youth Director Jason Collins and the CUMC Youth Ministry Team to discover more. Youth Group will meet every Sunday beginning at 5:16 pm in the fellowship hall. A meal will be offered before each session. It will be followed by games, a lesson and by breakout groups and discussion for Middle School and High School youth.
It is almost time to get signed up for church camp! CUMC offers all of its youth (6th-12th grade) the opportunity to attend any UMC camp with a 75% scholarship if the camper is signed up by the Early Bird deadline (April 15, 2019). Camp is more than fun, games, friendship and adventures. It’s a deep personal experience where a group of young people build into community, grow together, and learn together. Through these times, our goal is to help them discover who God has designed each of us to uniquely become within this world in which we live.
Youth Group Lock-In
We will be hosting a youth lock-in beginning at 6 pm on the February 16th and running through 8 am (approximately) on the 17th of February. The evening will include board games, movies, Bible studies, cardboard house building, fellowship time, and growing together as a youth group. All the kids need to bring is a sleeping bag, pillow, your favorite board game, etc. We will be providing dinner, probably pizza, as well as some snacks and bottled water throughout the evening.
The event will start with a meal from 6-7 pm on the 16th with the idea being you can drop your youth off anytime in that one hour window as we won't start any of the formal activities until 7. The event will end just in time for morning worship on the 17th.
Please let me know as soon as possible if your youth is able to attend, so I can have an idea of how much cardboard for the houses I need, as well as how much food to purchase for the night.
