Stay tuned to this page for updates on the next class!
Wednesday Night Meetings - Join the Youth Ministry team for boys and girls classes in the Pavilion at CUMC. Join us on Wednesdays for dinner at 5:30 and class in the Pavilion at 6:30. Wednesday night meetings are on break for the summer and will resume in October.
sunday evening Youth Group
A new combined Youth Group will be starting soon at CUMC. The group will be called, "Light" It Up - "Living in God's Holy Truth" is difficult in this day and age for youth (and adults). But in Matthew's gospel, Jesus tells us that we need to "let our light shine before men (Matthew 5:16)." How do we do that in this world? Join Youth Director Jason Collins and the CUMC Youth Ministry Team to discover more. Youth Group will meet every Sunday beginning at 5:16 pm in the fellowship hall. A meal will be offered before each session. It will be followed by games, a lesson and by breakout groups and discussion for Middle School and High School youth. Youth group meetings are on a break for the summer and will pick up again in late August. Stay tuned to this page for further dates!
Church camp is under way for 2019! CUMC offers all of its youth (6th-12th grade) the opportunity to attend any UMC camp with a 75% scholarship if the camper is signed up by the Early Bird deadline. Camp is more than fun, games, friendship and adventures. It’s a deep personal experience where a group of young people build into community, grow together, and learn together. Through these times, our goal is to help them discover who God has designed each of us to uniquely become within this world in which we live. Stay tuned to this page for information about church camp in 2020.
back to School bash
Newburgh UMC will be hosting a back to school bash on Sunday August 11. This will be an evening filled with games, such as 9-square, gaga ball, volleyball, etc., worship, and time of fellowship with youth from all over southwest Indiana. I will be driving the church bus to the event, but I need to know by Wednesday whether or not your youth will be attending, so I can see about securing another driver to assist. Since we have just had promotion Sunday, new 6th graders will be welcome to join us on this adventure. We will meet at CUMC at 3:30 and should arrive back between 9 and 9:30 Sunday evening.
Church Camp fundraiser
Sunday August 18th will be the church camp fundraiser carwash at Ducky’s Carwash on Hart St. We will be out washing cars from noon until 3. Dennis Chattin has graciously donated all of the supplies we will need, but we need as many bodies to wash and dry cars as possible! We will also need help holding signs by the road trying to draw people in! This event is open to anyone (youth, child, adult, who would like to help raise money for a great cause). Please let me know as soon as possible if you or your youth would be willing and able to attend. This is a great opportunity to show love to the church congregation who offered so much support to the camping ministry!
